DVDFab 11

  1. What can I do if DVDFab failed to connect to server/internet?

While DVDFab is trying to access the server/internet via VPN (especially NordVPN), you could get an error message like "Failure connecting to DVDFab Server! Your Host File has been modified...", DVDFab is likely got blocked by NordVPN, you can go to the Settings panel of NordVPN, turn off the "CyberSec" feature, it should solve the issue.

In case that this "CyberSec" feature is already turned off, please go and check the HOST file, here is more information: https://forum.dvdfab.cn/forum/dvdfab-english/general-questions/347030-how-to-correct-the-host-file

  1. What is the different between using DVD to Blu-ray Converter and convert DVD to Blu-ray with Enlarger AI?

DVD to Blu-ray Converter is to convert DVD movie into Blu-ray Format; while converting DVD to Blu-ray with Enlarger AI, it is the video quality that is changed, the video is upscaled from SD (480P) to Full HD (1080P).

  1. Why it will not copy to a blank DVD, I can copy to the hard drive only- any suggestions?

Normally, this happens when you choose your hard drive as the target in the SAVE TO box, to correct this, all you need to do is to click on the down-triangle in the SAVE TO box, and choose your burner for the target.

As for the movie disc has already been saved to the hard drive, you can load it as source to DVDFab Copy-Clone/Burn mode to burn it to blank media, so you don't need to go through the copy process again.

And this is the same for Blu-ray copy.

  1. How can I set a standard mp4 profile so that the black bars are removed from a DVD/Blu-Ray Rip or converted video so that the image fills the entire screen?

There are two entries in DVDFab about the crop, one is in the Edit window, where you can click on the "Video Edit" button to check the Crop section and adjust the parameters; the other is in Common Settings > Conversion > Convert, there is an option "Crop Automatically", it's marked by default, and you can uncheck it if you want it to crop manually.

  1. What is the best way to change resolution from 1080p to 720p for an entire TV season?

You can go to Advanced Setting window to change resolution and then click on the "Save my profile" option, it will display a new option "Save resolution", tick it and confirm the change, be sure that the "Apply to All" option is ticked too, it will create a new profile with name as xxx.default. Movie titles that use this profile will apply the same settings for conversion.

  1. Can we rip only the subtitles without having to rip any video/audio?

Yes, there is an SRT option to output only srt file. You can find the option under Profile panel > Format > Subtitle. It is available at DVD/Blu-ray/UHD Ripper.

  1. How to report incorrect metadata info when we come across it?

On the MetaInfo page in the upper right corner, you can use the triangle with the "!" inside to report incorrect meta info for the movie you come across.

  1. Where to find the free DVDFab HD Decrypter?
DVDFab products can be evaluated 30 days for free with full functionality, which means if this is the first time you download and use DVDFab you will start from the trial version, rather than the DVDFab HD Decrypter free version. Once the 30-day free trial expires, it will automatically turn into the free version, you can still use the free profiles (MKV Passthrough and MP4.Free) in Ripper and use DVDFab HD Decrypter mode which contains only limited functionality of the full version of DVD Copy and Blu-ray Copy:
DVD Copy - Full Disc (output to DVD9 only)
DVD Copy - Main Movie (output to DVD9 only)
Blu-ray Copy - Full Disc (output to BD50 only)
Blu-ray Copy - Main Movie (output to BD50 only)
  1. I don't want .nfo file, I like the old way, how to disable it?

You can disable the .nfo file by clicking on the Menu button on the upper right corner of DVDFab, go to Common Settings > General > Meta to uncheck the option "I want to use Meta information".

  1. Will UHD Creator come to the Mac platform some day?

Currently, macOS doesn't have hardware GPU that can encode 4K HEVC 10bit for UHD now. If you use CPU, the process will use maybe days to encode a two-hour movie. So, no, UHD Creator won't be added to DVDFab for Mac in short time.
