A frame is one of the many still images that make up a complete moving picture.

Frame rate (expressed in frames per second or FPS) is the frequency (rate) at which consecutive images called frames appear on a display. In the case of nearly all modern movies and scripted TV shows, the standard rate is 24 frames per second (fps). Other TV shows and sports videos, as well as video games, use higher frame rates of 30 FPS.

DVDFab Smoother AI works by distinguishing between foreground and background elements, and then generating new frames and slotting them between the original frames, increasing the video's frame rate up to 60 fps for smoother viewing. This means the viewing experience of your videos will be of higher quality, simultaneously improving their appearance.

AI interpolation works with movies, TV Shows, animation videos, home videos, and more. Especially with animations, action movies, and fast-moving sports videos, you will see smoother action lines after AI interpolation.

Frame interpolation works particularly well for animations. This is because animation videos are usually produced at a low frame rate since hand drawing of frames is both costly and time-consuming. However, the animation generated by hand drawing often has a very obvious sense of line. The effect of AI interpolation will be more dramatic on animation videos, due to the extremely low frame rate of the source video, combined with its clear action lines. After AI interpolation, your animation videos appear smoother and more natural.

For videos taken from the Internet, mostly TV shows and movies, 24 frames per second is the industry standard. For live TV programs, such as news programs, sports, and soap operas, 30 frames per second is common.

In the same way that our brain adds missing information to create motion, the higher the FPS, the smoother the motion will appear before our eyes. DVDFab Smoother AI can boost video frame rates up to 60 FPS, which can provide smoother motion for a better viewing experience.

Through extensive feedback from the community, we found that anyone who has watched at least three movies at a high frame rate would never consider watching anything in the obsolete 24 fps standard again. Once you have experienced such a high frame rate in videos, the appearance is so smooth and clear that is highly preferred.
